Born in East Los Angeles, Metrov began his professional life in New York City in 1970 working as a designer/illustrator for world-renowned Push Pin Studios. At the same time he worked as apprentice to the iconic Roger Hane, painter/designer of the original Carlos Castaneda book covers. He then segued into the Fine Arts painting in a loft studio across from Andy Warhol’s Factory.
